It’s not _your_ timeline, people. It is the property of Twitter, Inc., a transnational publicly traded company.

Twitter is a closed silo that we all helped build for Twitter, Inc., and now we’re pretty much stuck with it.
-
(Sure, another venture capital backed free service could potentially replace it someday but it will do so with more of the same.)
-
(But if we want a public sphere that can compete, it is going to need substantial subsidy and international scope to compete.)
-
Just remember all that before you go helping the next venture-capital-backed free service of the month become a monopoly by patronising it.
