Your decision to trade privacy for a free service rarely affects just yourself: it's like second hand smoke; it harms those around you also.

@aral no email is private. It all moves around the net in clear text. If you want privacy, choose another communications tool. /@reneritchie -
@Silver_hand Email not being private does not equal Dropbox getting to read your email. One does not imply the other is a given+@reneritchie -
@aral@reneritchie if you've emailed me something, I can safely assume you don't care who reads it. If you do care, don't email it. -
@Silver_hand@reneritchie Wow, remind me never to email you :) If I want the world to read it, I’ll write a blog post and tweet you a link.

@aral though want to agree with your view, I feel it is just about trust. Do you trust Google more than Dropbox, when they too scan mails? -
@_am1t That trust is required in the first place is an architectural feature that is a direct result of their business model.

@aral If you are using mailbox it means you are using either iCloud, Yahoo or Gmail. Those companies all have access as well. Way it is -
@thomaswensma “Way it is” doesn’t make it right. -
@aral true. But there is not a great designed good alternative (yet) So than if wanting to use email what is option?

.
@aral How is this different than using Gmail, for instance, other than adding an additional party to the mix? -
@lendamico@aral There is no, and should never be, any expectation of privacy with email. It is 100% insecure.
