When Facebook/Google say “private”, they mean “public”. Anything that is private is shared at least with them. That’s public, not private.

Because if something is just between you and Facebook or Google — that’s public, not private. Private means “for you alone”.

@aral@shaundunne Private is relative and also a contextual expectation. How many expect social networking to suffice an individual need.
