“One KDE dev said they just didn't feel any need to compete against Android like they did for MS… or MacOS.” http://lwn.net/SubscriberLink/606100/1bc685b18f0f85bc/ … *sigh*
@tbiz I don’t see how we could compete on user experience with iPhone / Nexus by building on Firefox OS.

@asadotzler@tbiz Difference is (a) you were competing with Microsoft (b) it was software vs software (today, it’s SW vs SW+HW+services) -
@aral@asadotzler@tbiz And you think you will do better starting from scratch and get enough leverage (selling 5000 devices doesn't count)? -
@fabricedesre Yes. And selling 5,000 devices counts for version 1. Although we’ll be aiming for 10,000. +@asadotzler@tbiz -
@aral@asadotzler@tbiz 10k is still nothing. You should just build the UI/UX you want on top of firefoxOS. That will save you a lot. -
@fabricedesre What you call nothing is what I’m devoting my life and family savings to. Have some respect. +@asadotzler@tbiz -
@aral Good luck with indiephone. User experience is not enough, IMO, to scale such an ambitious effort to numbers that will move the needle. -
@asadotzler Thanks — user experience is not enough, you’re right, but w/out competitive ux, you won’t get long-term consumer adoption…
