@aral as soon as governments stop spying on us I'll start worrying about Google.

@TheMarco Ad hoc fallacy, my friend; governments would not be able to spy on you to this extent without Google (& Google’s business model) -
@aral I disagree 100%. Google may make it somewhat easier but they can do it regardless. -
@TheMarco Then we have to agree to disagree 100% :) -
@aral indeed.My take:focus the anger on government surveillance first. The rest comes later, and naturally too.With G I can at least opt out -
@TheMarco You can opt out until all of G’s competitors also have the same business model (or there are none that can compete) -
@aral that's a hypothetical situation that doesn't actually exist. -
@TheMarco Indeed. It's called foresight. - 4 more replies

@aral sorry, but there is a huge difference between Google and a surveillance state! //@komiska@graemearthur -
@DerBruesseler@komiska@graemearthur Really, you don't see the connection? Read some Schneier. Or watch this:http://thelink.is/avoidingdigitalfeudalism … -
@aral Your argument remind me of those made by our minister of home affairs who defended state surveillance... //@komiska@graemearthur -
@DerBruesseler@komiska@graemearthur In which case, you have no idea what my argument is.http://thelink.is/avoidingdigitalfeudalism …

@aral google is the road the government surveillance is the data stealing tool booth. You don't destroy the road to fix the toll both. -
@Navglad No, you build many roads instead of a few highways to make it financially infeasible to place a toll booth on each one. -
@aral then you are talking about internet backbone not google. All companies employ the same road builders. The service providers.
