@aral Do you think people should be held culpable for the misdeeds of their ancestors?

@robsmallshire Perhaps, if you are still directly benefiting from their actions. Regardless, you can show a little humility.

@aral I think Gordon Brown might have done an apology (not 100% though). -
@timharbour Yeah, he did, in 2009. Just can't stand the pomposity of ‘the royals’. A pardon, indeed. Pardon them. -
@aral@timharbour in order to be exonerated of what is clearly an unjust criminal charge a pardon must be issued. There's no pomposity.

@aral fully agree but they *did* give an apology. And there's 3 statues. Nothing can actually undo the wrong so just accept the pardon.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@aral ...and then move on to apologizing to and exonerating the thousands more who need it.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@aral my role isn’t to apologize for those that came before me, it’s to fix the problems that persist to this day. -
@jtregunna@aral and not support band-aid fixes that will impact generations to come negatively. even if that means it's a solution interim
