@aral @dominiccampbell although knee jerk responses are exactly what we need when thinking about our civil liberties, of course.

@mediaczar@dominiccampbell Knee jerk responses like adding blocking at the ISP level, you mean, I can only assume. -
@aral@dominiccampbell see it as "not opening". All sites are blocked by default. Is Wikileaks content suitable for children? No. -
@mediaczar@dominiccampbell Mat, it sounds like you deserve exactly as much civil liberties as this government is happy to give you. Enjoy.

@aral that setting is a "whitelist", you can do exactly this yourself in parental controls on iOS. It's fine, and been like that for years -
@aral here is the "parental blocking" O2 setting but at device level. Concentrate your fire in the real issue dude :)pic.twitter.com/o1FdsjAGYJ

@bazscott You don't see a difference between device-level and carrier-level filtering ability? Because there is a huge one. -
@aral that specific setting is activated by the user though, it's not a blanket filter (which is abhorrent and is the real problem) -
@bazscott Agreed. Although they built the infrastructure for the latter via the former. You're right, though, focus! -
@aral my pref would always be to do it at device level but even tech savvy people don't know about those excellent features in iOS etc

@aral@dominiccampbell https://mobile.twitter.com/OpenRightsGroup/status/414506009122443265 … Parental Controls appears to default to whitelist suitable for kids. It's not about Wikileaks -
@mediaczar@aral@dominiccampbell Yep, 'Parental Controls' setting designed for U12s. Language O2 use is confusing https://wiki.openrightsgroup.org/wiki/Content_filtering_by_UK_ISPs#O2 …

@aral but then, pretty much everything is blocked under 'parental' controls. -
-
@Politepix@aral Or even 'Pariah' controls and autocorrect changed it?
