@aral nothing free about that offer. Definitely looks like a job with no pay to me.

@aral Certainly seems that way to me. There are some initiatives out there that are just fro free desk space. http://www.creativereview.co.uk/cr-blog/2013/march/open-studio-clubs-free-desk-here-initiative … -
@Synthetic_Man Yeah, I quite like the sound of that initiative, very different (http://www.creativereview.co.uk/cr-blog/2013/march/open-studio-clubs-free-desk-here-initiative …) -
@aral I liked how it's a completely non-exploitative initiative, of course it was just a matter of time before someone twisted it to suit

@aral No, this is an unpaid internship disguised as a favour. If anyone here tried that like@BloomWorldwide , I'd shut it down. -
@fj@aral@BloomWorldwide 'dark pattern' ( no UI) . If I were them I'd remove the word 'free'. its really trade by barter -
@designjuju@aral@bloomworldwide Only if you consider a desk to be a perk instead of basic infrastructure to be supplied by any employer. -
@fj@aral@BloomWorldwide true on the website it reads as a job ad. This is really bad both in intention and execution. they should rethink

@aral I had a similar (but not quite the same) arrangement with a company for a while. It was a poor choice and it didn't end well! Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@aral I guess that all depends on what they expect from "pre agreed number of hours per month for design and development work".Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@aral Isn't a 'desk/skill exchange' just a really nice way to phrase 'unpaid job'?Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@aral Well, if a designer wants to rent a work place with meeting rooms, he has to pay for it. Its math if hours/rate are fair for the offer -
@aral "Free" obviously is the wrong word. It's more "rentable for working time instead of cash". Where working time equals cash in fact.
