@aral basically, doing cleartype font rendering on a composited layer requires 6 colour channels (an alpha per channel), Webkit/blank uses 4 -
@aral That means cleartype font rendering is dropped when an element gets a GPU layer. Position:fixed is a trigger in webkit (not blink) -
@aral in Blink, if the element with the GPU layer has no semi-transparent pixels, cleartype is reinstated. Don't think WebKit does this. -

@aral are you getting cleartype on all text (as in, colour fringing around letters when you do OSX's a11y screen zoom)?
