Few things make me cringe as much as the word ‘(hand)crafted’ applied to code.
@csswizardry @timharbour Again, it’s about approach and motivation. For some of us, it is more than a job.

@aral@timharbour For me it’s definitely more than a job, but I still know that it’s not ‘craft’. We all agree that quality is paramount […]Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@aral@timharbour […] but I think craft is the wrong approach/angle to take. It feels inappropriate. ‘Craft’ implies folly and indulgence[…] -
@csswizardry ? craft, noun: Ability; dexterity; skill; especially in making plans and carrying them into execution /cc@aral@timharbour

@aral@timharbour […] but I think our jobs are a little more serious than that. We solve problems using design/code, we don’t ‘craft’ :) -
@csswizardry@aral@timharbour I could point out that everyone's "handcrafted" code, well, if it's done correctly, looks the same, right? :) -
@dazulu@csswizardry@timharbour (If you can define ‘correct’ in experience design, we can all retire tomorrow.) -
@aral@csswizardry@timharbour Oh I agree with you that the visual design and experience are crafted, but I get what Harry is on about too. -
@dazulu@csswizardry@timharbour The experience is created with code. The aesthetics are as much (or as little) about ones & zeros as code.
