        @aral It must be cheaper to rent a car, drive there and &even pay for the fuel than spending 331 pounds, right? If so, sad state of affairs.

        @aral or £70 if you take coach class. 1st has to be expensive to price people out. That’s basic economics.

        @imJackH Basic economics in Oslo with Flytoget is single class; awesome facilities & service. I guess basic economics is what you make it :)

        @aral When I was commuting from Cambridge to London I spent over £800 a month on train tickets, only slightly less than my rent. Insane.

        @matid @aral I just left a job partly because it was costing me half my salary to get the train to London. Couldn’t afford it. It’s awful.

        @aral I find if you book in advance, and economy, you can get fares quite cheap. I got tickets from York to Edinburgh for just £16.50

        @aral Do you use http://trainline.com  at all? That shows you the cheapest fares through to most expensive depending on class & time of day
