Ergonomically, iPhone 5 still makes no sense to me.

@aral agreed, love it, but in standard holding position I cannot easily reach buttons at the top of the screen with my thumb #2handsneeded

@jamesaskew Exactly. Especially when the most commonly used controls are located at the top and bottom of the screen as per the HIG.

@aral Compared to iPhone 3G(S) or 1? Because I don't see much of a difference between 4 and 5 form factors.

@uliwitness Aspect ratio change is a major change (e.g., necessitated framework changes to add auto‐layout). 1‐handed to 2‐handed is major.

.@aral it's a disaster. The lack of a physical back button continually forces you to reach for 'UI back' which is inaccessible with one hand

@codazzo but a physical back button makes no sense for iOS @aral

@glaurent @aral that's all very good except the entire time I'm using it I'm holding it with two hands which is a total UX screwup

@codazzo Bingomatic. My main gripe is that it went from 1‐handed to 2 for very little gain. +@glaurent

@aral When I had a review model, I loved the screen right up until I had to use it in portrait. Always felt awkward.

@aral after a week or two you learn to hold it more in the middle of your hand and you can reach everywhere. It's a nice thin phone though

@aral perhaps you should wait a few more months for the iPhone 5s/6. Would make the 5 cheaper or you can get a 5s.

@aral Yup! other OS phones have higher screens because all buttons are at the bottom. no important clickable controls at the top.
