    I wish the arts council would stop exploring ways to pair ‘artists’ with coders and start seeing the artistry in code.

        @aral I fundamentally agree, but there are two questions here which will not be answered on twitter- what is art; and what is ACE for?

        @aral I see the art in coding, painting, rapping, video game playing, mass protest, poetry... But only some will get Arts Council support

        @davidblandy @aral we certainly see the art and creativity in coding, hence our funding for #bdf2013, #geek2013, Happenstance etc.

        @jon_pratty I’m sure some do :) I just saw yet another project speaking of creative/technical art/code as mutually exclusive. +@davidblandy

        @aral @davidblandy @seb_ly We can't speak for other projects, but #shortcircuit is strategically funded to be diverse, to blur boundaries

        @jon_pratty And, as I told @SarahPickthall, it sounds like a great initiative—my comment was on positioning/wording. +@davidblandy @seb_ly

        @aral the idea that you can be an artist without being deeply involved in what you are building really bothers me, though

        @aral Sadly I don't think many decision makers in the arts have a strong enough understanding of code or it's value/beauty.
