Post update: Pixel‐parity rems — tweak the base font size to scale everything in proportion at breakpoints: http://aralbalkan.com/notes/pixel-parity-rems/ …
@laurakalbag @LeaVerou I find lots of hearsay around CSS, some of which is outdated and some just plain wrong. Will test and see…

@laurakalbag@LeaVerou What I’m saying is, it would help me make an educated decision if I knew exactly which older browsers are effected… -
@aral What do you need to know? I happen to be doing CSS unit tests at this very moment. -
@ppk Ooh :) Just what impact setting the root font size in pixels instead of percentages has on being able to scale text in browsers. -
@aral You don't want to set the root font size, right? Just use it with rem units. rems are not supported by IE8 and lower. -
@ppk I tweak the root not size at breakpoints to make the whole design (specified in rems) scale up and down in proportion. -
@aral And I found no problems in supporting desktop browsers. So I guess it should work. -
@ppk ‘Thanks ppk, I appreciate it’ is what I meant to write, of course :) - 6 more replies

@aral@laurakalbag@leaverou I thought it was just old versions of IE that didn’t zoom text if it were set in absolute units? Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
