I can’t think of a dumber move than a school replacing its computers with iPads. Complementing, yes, replacing, no. /ht @phidip; typo fix

@aral Curious. Why? It seems @fraserspeirs is having tons of success doing precisely that.

@CraigGrannell I didn’t think @fraserspeirs had replaced all computers at the school with iPads. I’d much prefer them as complementary.

@aral @fraserspeirs But they’re teaching modular and transferable concepts, surely? You can still make programs/websites (etc.) on iPads.

@CraigGrannell @fraserspeirs Indeed. Again, nothing against iPads but I find iPad-only quite a dangerous precedent.

@aral @phidip why? what can be done on a computer that isn't available on iPads wrt to education and schools?

@DShankar @phidip Anything that Apple doesn’t allow you to do. Is that the culture we want to teach our kids? They must ask permission?

@aral @phidip You still want access to a PC/Mac when required but their is a strong case for the predominant tool being the iPad.

@aral @phidip I can see the Mac/PC becoming the complementary device. When aligned with sound pedagogy, 1:1 iPad is AMAZE.
