Dropping out of kettlebell bootcamp & joining a gym after reading lots of negative articles on kettlebells. Apparently a (dangerous) fad.

@aral I can recommend: http://www.thenewrulesoflifting.com/  for sensible advice and programmes if you are in the gym.

@aral I've seen people doing idiotic stuff with them in the gym. Would be easy to get a rotator cuff injury using them poorly.

@rachelandrew Yep. My issue with the bootcamp is that it’s for beginners & not we’re not getting enough emphasis on form.

@aral I've been lifting for 3 years now, and the very best guide for starters is: http://aasgaardco.com/store/store.php?crn=199&rn=413&action=show_detail …. Changed my life.

@MaikelVanhees @aral Also worth investigating stronglifts 5x5, depending what your goals are :-) both great for beginner gains

@MarkSkinner_ @aral the issue I have with SL is that its a blatant SS ripoff :P But it should work pretty well (since its a SS ripoff ;) )

@aral This is also a good reference, it’s the only weightlifting book I’ve kept and refer to still: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Strength-Training-Anatomy-Frederic-Delavier/dp/0736063684/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1359459885&sr=8-1 …

@aral It's… not for beginners. Kettlebell work can be awesome, but good form has to be instinctual.

@aral I think they are fine used under instruction and as part of a varied programme. Anything done exclusively usually a bad sign.

@aral hm - dangerous in general or only through incorrect moves? I certainly prefer over the gym (trains "all" muscles and your whole body!)

@aral Kettlebells are not dangerous per se, but many can make them if untrained to use them. It's like saying knives are a dangerous fad.
