@aral I choose to live in this country because I prefer it over my country of birth. I don't understand people who live here but dislike it
RT @jasoneccles: You should probably go now. Because the Queen is our Head of State. That’s how we like it.
How forceful you are, Jason…

@jasoneccles There’s a difference between disliking a place and disliking its type of government.

@aral@jasoneccles I may be alone, but personally I think we'd be better off without the Queen *and* the EU. Both are a drain on the economy -
@molovo the Queen is a drain on the economy? I think that's been pretty much disproved now. Tourism alone pays for her. -
@jasoneccles in 2012 queen and royal family cost >£32m. What exactly is that money gaining us when she has no powers/duties/responsibility? -
@molovo@jasoneccles But we know now that she has a veto on various bills, despite not being accountable to anyone. So not just ceremonial. -
@ojmason@jasoneccles yes, but can you imagine the uproar if she ever did go against parliament/the public and veto? Would never happen -
@molovo@jasoneccles It HAS happened, albeit behind the scenes and in secret. Last week it was reported in the Guardian. -
@ojmason@jasoneccles I'd be interested in seeing that article if you have a link, did a search but couldn't find it - End of conversation

@aral I wonder if that’s the “royal we”.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@aral@jasoneccles Is that the royal "we"? -
@Jn_Norris The majority of people in the UK would vote to keep the Queen rather than have 1 more politician.
