@aral but there are some design quick fixes, surely? Tightening typography; reducing number of fonts; using sans serif for body copy.

@aral My writing rules are "simplify, don't horrify". I suspect design 'quickwins' are same (which is why "choose a purty font" annoys you) -
@brucel Exactly. As I state in my post, you would actually be better off not adding elements to your site than adding them without thought.
