@aral The "smart" banners are terrible. The whole banner is linked and even pressing the "X" launches the app. Better just a one time modal. -
@rgcottrell They may have their downsides but at least they are not modal. Why not implement a custom non‐modal solution instead? -
@aral I hate the modals as well. Still, not only do you know that Flickr has a mobile app, you've tweeted it to others. Seems effective. :-(

@aral problem with those banners is they are not smart enough - even if app is installed on device already, they show up. -
@andypiper Indeed. Unfortunately, I believe the alternative would be a privacy breech and even a potential attack vector. -
