I wholeheartedly support web standards but I don’t support web fundamentalism. If you think the web is The One True Platform, you’re wrong.

@aral I think if we rename it to The One Universal Platform, then we’re probably closer to the truth (and what those people believe.) -
@laurakalbag Universality (as defined by Tim Berners-Lee) is a laudable goal but not an inherent quality of the web (see Facebook & Syria). -
@aral I think it *is* an inherent quality of the web in its most basic form, but there are exceptions created through intentional decisions.
