@aral Oslo has proper cycle lanes? I thought they were officially known as dumping ground for the leaves & snow that clutters the car lane
And on that note, how about spending some of our tax money on putting *proper* (Amsterdam/Oslo-style) cycle lanes everywhere, UK gov?

@hyper_linda Well, at least the ones I saw were wide and separated from the road. -
@aral I think Oslo actually has the lowest cycling rate in all of Europe. It is quite hilly, but still. -
@hyper_linda Fair enough, maybe they were skiing lanes that I saw :) -
@aral there's one good cycle land from Lysaker (rich west part of Oslo) to the city centre, past all the sailboats, yachts etc -
@hyper_linda That’s the one I saw :) +@evbjone

@aral you mean instead of ripping up the few proper ones we had in London to create shiny new roads for the Olympic tourists? -
@robert_t Sumfink like that, yeah :) -
@aral it'll never catch on. Takes up valuable road space that is needed by all if those lovely cars. We need more cars! :-)

@aral I'm afraid Oslo has crappy cycle lanes. They are improving, but not at an impressive pace. Copenhagen is a lot more bike-friendly.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@aral as a next step we need existing cycling infrastructure to be maintained - too often full of broken glass or wet leaves.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@aral Most cycle lanes are made for cars. Not for bikes.#justmyopinionThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@aral private rapid transports the way to go. Could eliminate the car altogether . Neither party has any grand workable visions.#bigdreamsThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
