.@aral depends on what you want (culture? Party? Quiet?....) and how much you want to spend :-)
So say you were hypothetically looking at three months in LA to get away from the British winter. Which neighbourhoods would you look at? :)

@groby Somewhere nice. In the middle of things, but quiet. Willing to spend a bit :) -
@aral Culver city. West Hollywood is part central - not that there's anything wrong with that :-) -
@groby Ooh, some nice places there too from what I can see. Thanks :) -
@aral in general, we love our cars - you'll need one wherever you are, so location has only limited importance :-) -
@groby Fair enough. Good thing I have a US driver’s license :) -
@aral just make sure to drive on the right side ;) -
@groby Why’s everyone going the wrong way? :) - 1 more reply

@aral I am LA expert at the moment as I've been researching for months. As always it depends what you are looking for... -
@nialljthompson Indeed. I guess a place with a bit of community, where you can walk around and don’t have to drive everywhere, nice cafes :) -
@aral Beechwood Canyon is nice too. Hard to find a place in LA that you can walk around though... -
@nialljthompson West Hollywood sounds good :) Looks like there are some lovely gated communities too. -
@aral all the best restaurants are in WeHo. Let me know if you find anything nice. I'm looking to move there in Jan/Feb... -
@nialljthompson Oh cool :) I think it might be fun to spend a month or two there away from the grey skies and rain :) -
@aral indeed, would be even more fun if you were in town! They also call Santa Monica 'Silicon Beach' but i don't really buy into all that.
