<code> breaking vertical rhythm… there has to be a better solution than vertical-align: top (http://alexmansfield.com/css/font-size-line-height-pre-code-monospace …) – any ideas? #html #css
@csswizardry But I’m specifying the line height… do you see the behaviour you’re describing on http://breakingthin.gs +@MarkSkinner_

@aral for those that can't… I was under the impression reason for rems is that you can set a base font size with it and use it as reference -
@MarkSkinner_ Yep, I use that—and I fiddle with the base font size to make everything a bit smaller on smaller screens while keeping ratios. -
@aral Ah okay - makes more sense now :-) Easier to set base font size to 0.9 and let the rest "fix itself"

@aral@MarkSkinner_ The same problems will apply, you're defining your line-height in absolute units. Also, that site in IE8… D: -
@aral an issue is another matter :-) (I don't think it is) +@csswizardry -
@MarkSkinner_@aral Of course it is :S -
@csswizardry Why? If you update the font-size, you can then choose to update the line-height (if you need to)@aral -
@MarkSkinner_@aral Your line-height (your vertical rhythm) should not need updating on a per-element basis, ever! -
@csswizardry And a page can have many different fonts, weights and colours :-) obviously@aral -
@MarkSkinner_@aral Errr… I'll bow out of this one. -
@csswizardry#tagteam I'll take your place Harry.@MarkSkinner_@aral Harry is right! Custard creams are WAY better than rich tea biscuits!

@aral Confused why you're using rems over pixels there… zooming has the same affect for any browser that can interpret rems, and same issueThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
