But you have 48k followers, you can just publish whatever content you are producing?

On Twitter/FB, the number of followers/“friends” you have is a meaningless statistic since they have algorithmic, not chronological timeliness. So they decide who sees & who doesn’t see what you publish. On Mastodon, I may have 4K people instead of 48K but they all get my posts.

And that’s before we even get to quality vs quantity: The amount of meaningful engagements I have on the fediverse is far greater than has ever been the case on Twitter. YMMV, but I simply have a better quality of life engaging there rather than on this factory farm for humans.
