What do you think of rolling your own VPN? (Like https://github.com/trailofbits/algo …).

I did have a look, earlier, but IPsec and OpenVPN are both so complicated that I wouldn't know how comfortable I'd be administering it myself. With WireGuard, I might look into it eventually :)

FWIW I happily recommend
@trailofbits@AlgoVPN if you want to set up your own VPN but don’t want to live on he bleeding WireGuard edge. IPSec is complicated; Algo gets it right. -
Thanks, Dave, appreciate your insight on this. Personally, I'm only about smart enough to understand how WireGuard works so I'm excited about that. Its also lightweight enough to easily incorporate into more comprehensive apps so I'm excitedly playing with the possibilities :)

Thanks for support Dave! Fwiw we started adding WireGuard to Algo server installs a month or two ago, in addition to strongSwan. Client support for WireGuard is much better today than the early days — it has a slick Android app we prefer to IPSEC on that platform.

Oh, I hadn’t realized about Algo and WireGuard. That’s exciting!

As
@NvrHX_PK4p1nN points out, you should give@ProtonVPN a test. They even have servers in non-14-eyes countries, which@AzireVPN doesn't seem to have. A reply for your footnotes: As for password manager alternatives, try looking at@bitwarden_app or@dashlane. -
Will take a look, thanks, Morten :)
