So The Spinner* has the same business model as Google*, Facebook*, Oracle*, Adobe*, Yahoo*, … you get the idea. Only The Spinner is tiny compared to those behemoths of surveillance capitalism. https://youtu.be/KUNiX5emptQ * Search on https://better.fyi/trackers/ to see their trackers.

Do you know who else does what The Spinner* does?
@MailChimp … WHAT? But they have an adorable monkey mascot! Never! Oh my goodness, could it be that maybe surveillance capitalism is the business model of mainstream technology & it is as manipulative/exploitative as all fuck?pic.twitter.com/1JqqXZqdah

We should all be thanking the Valley Bros that made The Spinner* – it might just be what it takes for folks to sit up and take note of (a) how this crap works (b) what it is designed to do (c) how fucked up it all is. The Spinner* is surveillance capitalism in its purest.

The Spinner* is surveillance capitalism’s Martin Shkreli moment.

I refuse to believe this is real...
-
Do you believe Google is real? Because it’s the same business model, techniques, and technology.
-
oh, I’m sure it can be done - I just can’t imagine someone would actually start a service that uses this in such an insanely unethical way, not to sell things, but to let people manipulate others… that’s a whole different level
-
Selling you things = manipulating people.
-
Yes sure, but the satire moment is that you use this to manipulate someone you are supposed to love. But even the fact this this is not clear, is an indicator how dystopic commercial tech has become.

@RationalMale just look at this ... okay, some tech guy just trying solve all problems for his own SMV "in one click" -
I was wondering how long it would be until some industrious coder wrote a script that plays on behavioral psychology to improve his sexless marriage with his wife. All it took was his thirst to overcome his Blue Pill notions of what is “ethical”.
-
This is basically the same behavioral psychology algorithm Google, Facebook and Twitter use to influence engagement, only the behavior modified is a wife’s sexual initiative rather than sales.
-
This is a neat technical idea though. I mean it is literally what Facebook is doing but on a smaller scale. I wonder if I can use this and only send traffic to my own sites for traffic and ad revenue
