Hard to say. In some projects (that could raise ethics-related questions for example), it's not uncommon to make one dev work on one small part, another on another small part, etc... Pretty good security measure, and ensures that devs don't get the big picture.

Indeed. But at this point, unless you’re living under a rock, you’ve read the news reports, you know :)

Facebook seems to be using this as a means to distinguish humans from bots flooding their platform. I’m not defending FB or passing comment on their practices, just taking the reports and evidence at face value.
-
I think one of Google Recaptcha's strategy to separate humans from bots also depends on tracking mouse movements on the screen. I wonder how common this is used.
-
It’s pretty common. I use Hotjar which records screen sessions and shows everything people are clicking on a website. It’s really valuable to be able to see where people are getting confused so that you can improve certain elements on a site to be more clear.
-
Same for me Liz, I’ve used Hotjar to correct UX concerns that were seemingly hidden in plain sight.

Soon, hopefully, Facebook might no longer be a social norm. That happens when you shed privacy for piracy.https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2010/jan/11/facebook-privacy …

This is how I read it: Facebook confirms that it does what we all should have expected it to be doing, but not all are tech savy enough to know about it, or have enough critical though to expect it. And we know the other
#SurveillanceCapitalism companies do the same! Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

And so what? What horrible things could they use that information for?!? There are many privacy issues with FB in general - but I really don't see that this is a big privacy issue.

Not just Facebook. Many websites use "session replay" scripts. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Session_replay …

Now is a good time to log in to FB and trace out something appropriate to how this makes you feel with your mouse
-
Not just FB they’re all at it
-
Well, I mean, we’ve been able to see some mouse data in Google Analytics on sites for like a decade now, so I’m not totally shocked
