To speak of “ethical Big Data” in a digital/networked landscape where we lack individual sovereignty is—at best—to speak of a world were we trust (ideally socialist, I can only assume) governments w our personhood. I’m not convinced that’s any better than trusting corporations.
We have our priorities wrong: sure, work on building a healthy commons must continue alongside work to guarantee individual sovereignty but w/out the latter we lose personhood.
