Even if individuals entirely hold and control their own data, there will still be tremendous value to accumulating copies -- who doesn't want to know more about people? -- so many of the issues will remain

And they can have those copies without our permission when they wrestle our private keys out of our cold, dead hands ;)

What keys? Do you really have a practical architecture to do the stuff that's made Twitter and Facebook and Google popular that keeps the encrypted data on only your own server? Homomorphic encryption maybe someday I dunno, blockchain probably not. You have something?
