Being Force-linked to Kylo Ren, Grandson to Darth Vader and Supreme Leader of the galaxy, is an insanely great “present tense” problem for Rey to overcome. Why does her lineage need to become her main struggle? So bizarre.

because fanbois wanted an explanation why she's so powerful

In the Journey to TROS novels and comics Rey struggles with her new role as the "hope" of the Resistance and even falters in her connection to the Force after what she went through in TLJ. Those seem like pretty "present tense" problems, but they kinda just evaporated?

LOL so was JJ Abrams just flat-out lying to Greg Grunberg when he told him that Rian Johnson's TLJ script "was so good, I wish I'd written it myself"?
-
Yeah that's been debunked. JJ said Greg just made that one up. He definitely lied about honoring what Rian did in TLJ though…

Kylo Ren already had that plotline. It wasn't more interesting it was just easier to write because you have zero imagination.
