I've noticed these preferences a lot but I think there's an underlying cause of the representation of beauty especially for queer men. It's hard to summarize over twitter but essentially the favor is heavily skewed towards white twinks in my experience
There are so many attractive boys who I just never appreciated until I saw good representation in a movie or show that made me realize "wow these boys are way more attractive than I realized". However almost all representation for gay men is white except for a few rare cases

I agree that it's not worth fighting people for what they believe are just preferences but are more subtle racial bias since we can do better than that but the situation is still kinda icky
