Hello Michael, I would love to hear your ideas although I am incredibly skeptical on the functionality of any free market

prepare to be mind blown by my insane economic theory made by someone that knows nothing about economics. It all started while watching hit netflix show “stranger things”. During season 3 of ST, A shopping mall is built on the outskirts of hawkins. (1/god knows)

this shopping mall is filled to the brim with brand name retailers and nearly a of hawkins is shown spending their weekends at the mall. However, the local shop owners in town began to receive no customers, so they began to protest in front of the town hall, to no avail. (2/???)

and so i began to think. the shopping mall obviously destroyed the current economic cycle in hawkins right, but how? the economic cycle in Hawkins was perfect bc it was based locally based bussinesses w/ money and resources being cycled throughout themselves. (3/???)

As soon soon as the mall is instated, money begins to cycle out of the town, and products cycle in. This makes it extremely hard for the people of hawkins to manage commerce because they are now being influenced greatly by countrywide corporations. (4/AAAH)

These corporations usually exploit foreign countries work policies for cheap labor and resources, making it impossible for the local business owners to by themselves compete with the low prices of set by these corporations. The only way to prevent these economic takeovers (5/???)

is to ensure that the free market is ran at a local, district, or at most state level with strict regulations (basically localized socialism). This makes it way easier to manage the distribution of goods, means of production, and the people of the land. (6/maybe)

Of course there are many flaws in my idea. I do not know how to handle shipping services such as Amazon, entertainment industries like Nintendo and Marvel, and technology companies such as Microsoft and Google that have basically become a part of everyday life. (7/eventually)

so yah socialism where businesses are strictly locally based in order to prevent monopolies and better manage the wellfare of both the economy and citizens. also hi sharktale. (8/8)

I definitely agree that the globalization of corporations hurts everyone because especially under capitalism they are incentivized to exploit countries with cheaper labor

My approach to socialism is usually more aligned with the government stepping in to regulate the economy because capitalists aren't obligated to act morally without someone telling them they can't.

But like, local free market would still be 200% better than what we have right now
