Why do they push the rigid 5 paragraph structure for essays in high school? Ever since I arrived in college I have never written a single 5 paragraph essay since it hurt my ability to organize my thoughts logically. 5 paragraphs is a good start, but not really useful long term
Essays are important in all fields actually. Even though I'm a CS major I still need writing courses because when I go on to do research or collaborate with scientists I need to present my findings/thoughts effectively. It's just that I don't use 5 paragraph essays...
