Mike fucks up so many times. He should have just left the cop's game when Worm comes in.

Oh I take it back. From real-poker perspective, the other worst part is Mike bragging about winning A SINGLE HAND off Johnny Chan.

That is def the worst part. The ending of continuing to play KGB is at least excusable from Hollywood/excitement-requirements. But framing things as if winning a single hand from a tough player is something impressive is very bad. Should have made it an entire session.

Grama getting angry that Mike is beating KGB seems pretty silly, cause why would he care? But maybe it all hinges on Mike saying "I thought I smelled him" when Grama walks in.

Would have been great if Mike's VO at end when he gets in cab was like "Did she know I meant 'I will call you' and 'I will need a lawyer'? Like two separate ideas? Damn, I'm not sure she really got it."

One more thought: saying “I thought I smelled him” about someone who you might owe a bunch of money to soon seems non-GTO.

Idea for comedy sketch w/ a Hollywood poker consultant conman who’s never actually played the game. He goes from movie to movie making up shit about poker on the spot. We see him giving clueless advice on Maverick, Rounders, Casino Royale, then cut to most stupid scenes in those

Talking to @alex_falcone in a few for his Read Em and Weep podcast, talking about Rounders. This was a section in my book Verbal Poker Tells where I talked about the poker tells in that movie.pic.twitter.com/jobhKDWmYY

@alex_falcone Do you remember? Did she say that response "we both know that's not true" in the movie? I think they might have cut that.pic.twitter.com/Beuptoo7k4

Rounders is a funny movie, in that it got people interested in poker, which caused them to learn about poker, which caused them to realize Rounders was pretty dumb about poker. Works as a comedy now, though.

I still think it’s a great movie. Watched Primal Fear also last night, and the law in that is as laughable as the poker in Rounders. So many movies are just complete fantasies.

Lol exactly. “The best players, when they raise, you know, they put out a stack, and then go back for another one. It’s a strong psychological move!”
