so instead I have laboriously recreated the effect in after effects to bake it out to a sprite sheet, and now I need to write a script to smoothly interpolate between the frames and whatever. and this is why games take so long to make lol

basically overdraw is when you draw the same pixels on the screen repeatedly, which wastes gpu time. as you can see here I'm overdrawing the screen a hilarious number of times, like 100x. this one effect is probably losing me like 15 fps on my surface lol

if you're curious, this is no mere incorrectly assigned texture.... this seems to be caused by a bug in the unity renderer where when you're using grabpass to write to a render texture sometimes it just gives you junk data/reused from other render textures lol

holy crap I'm rendering a trailer in prep for launching my steam page and this one 10-second segment took like 17 hours to render in AE. depth of field is not a joke... at least my sci-fi lookin map is cool

I have changed the typography like twice since posting this but anyway, coming up with this kinda thing is a fun thought exercise. highlights include: USSR and byzantium around in modern day, no franco-prussian war (ergo big france and no germany), no italian unification
