I’d be really curious to know how many of these mass murderers have been taken down by some vigilante gun owner that happened to be there at the right time holding their iron. Is there any data on this?

Come to my country
#Yemen, not now because there's been war going on since 3 years; you will see how people own grenades, RPG, C-type bombs, snipers, machine guns you name it, and we had even open gun market, black market and more. But we never had mass shooting incident! -
And put in mind, we never had something called gun laws untill recently, and not even effective. I really think that there is more deeper issue than guns within the US society, you have got to be Freaksocioeconomist to find it out.
-
It's sick/evil people looking for fame and shock value. If they had balls they'd try targeting an armed group of people vs unarmed innocent children/bystanders. We in the US need to do better to prevent these pandemic behaviors.

There is NO reason a 18 or 19 year old has an AR-15! They are not hunting or protecting themselves. It is a gun meant for the military.
-
I've hunted with one.

I’m a gun owner too...but I don’t need or want an AR-15 for protection.
-
You can't blame the hammer for hitting your finger. Point is, it's not the tool but the person. We need to do something for sure but evil will find a way no matter how difficult we make it to obtain these tools.
-
Common sense guns laws are about restricting who can own guns, generally the faster it can kill multiple people, the more restricted it should be. Why is that so hard to grasp? Of course people shooting the guns is the problem, that's why we want to limit their ability to acquire
-
Obviously making them harder to obtain is the best thing to do
@MadMerlyn. My point is simple, look at Timothy McVeigh. Doesn't matter what we make hard to acquire, evil people will find a way to kill. -
It's the behavior we need to focus on changing, imo!
-
We should treat all symptoms of the disease, not just one. Better gun control and better mental health care. They are not mutually exclusive and any argument that predicates we don't work on both is inherently flawed.
-
Agreed with both statements entirely but my point is still the same. I am not arguing that you're wrong, merely stating that other methods for mass murder exist besides guns. How can we make it harder for mentally ill people to obtain diesel and fertilizer?
-
Precisely my point though, bombs are just an example. They will use different methods to kill regardless of what's available to them if they are dedicated to commit acts of violence. We have to change the way they think before the act is carried out. imo

I have nothing against someone protecting their home their way, that is your right, but I am sick of these school shootings happening every time.
-
They will continue to happen unless you stop allowing people to have guns in their home though.
-
Single shot hunting rifles, and low cal small magazine handguns, which make up most of the guns you'd find for "home defense" aren't what's enabling mass shootings to occur, it's designed assault weapons like the AR-15. We can restrict AR-15s without taking away heirloom guns.

What difference? Ever shot a gun? Ever had a hobby? Why wouldn't you want access to the best tools available? Imagine if someone said too many people were chainsaw massacred and you were a brilliant chainsaw sculptor and they wanted to take your chainsaw because it cut too fast.
-
Ignorance at its best .can tell ur American
-
Explain how that picture depicts a difference between a sporting and an assault rifle. Not all sport shooting is hunting. Look up 3 gun competitions before you go talking to anyone about ignorance.
-
How about looking at all the children that have died because of ur so called hobby
-
No children ever were murdered at a 3 gun competition. Because everybody there has guns.
