If your argument is that these reforms won’t change anything I simply ask “What problems will be the reforms create?” No one is taking your guns. Gun Reform Now!

As a Veteran with PTSD, I feel really bad that another Veteran fell on his knees to this evil. As an individual that hears both sides of the gun spectrum, we must look outward at other cultures with gun reforms and compare US with THEIRS. What is the difference? Culture.

Right now, many other nations regulate guns and other nations don’t. Yet why is it nations like Canada that accept guns have almost to none on mass shootings? Lets compare Japan that heavily enforces guns, practically ZERO mass shootings.

California gun laws are as strict as they can possibly be without actually just taking your guns. What do you suggest? Mental health needs to be addressed, which is also a slippery slope. You can’t stop a madman on a mission. They will find a way

right. maybe just maybe if certain individuals have access to mental health assistance (for free or reduced costs) it would deter them from committing such violent acts

It should always be free. Clearly if they have mental health history, they should never have access to a gun.

Define “mental health history”. Depression? PTSD? Insecurity? What diagnosis deems you mentally ill? If diagnosed mentally ill, what does that do to you chances of employment? Not so easy.

We have HIPPA here, jobs can’t deny you based on your health history because they can’t legally access your health history. Not sure what that has to do with guns being in the hands of mentally ill people tho.

It's a federal law, if they wanted to amend it to where you could view mental health history on background checks for guns they could, but they don't.

That’s just it, they don’t want every agency to have the ability to see health records, but a process could be devised that flags a person defined as having mental health issues without seeing all health records. It just doesn’t exist today and should be a first step.

You have a good point. I don’t see an issue with getting a bit stricter on who gets to purchase guns. Criminal record, Mental illness etc

I have no problem with strict background checks and eliminating guns from criminals and people with mental health issues - I just don't like the idea of the government dictating to me what I can or can't do to defend myself

No one's taking our guns, yet due to the passing of Initiative 1639, a .22 caliber rifle (which is mostly used by rabbit hunters and youthful shooters trying to learn gun safety and fundamentals) is now an "assault rifle" in the state of Washington.

AND you have to release access to your medical records to the state to buy any gun. It's unconstitutional.
