Can you guarentee that no one will hurt my wife or daughter. Can you guarentee to eliminate a persons bad choices? If not guns or any weapon that puts my wife or me on an even playing field with an attacker will need to exist

In that case let’s just get rid of all laws then given there is no point. No one is saying remove all guns - background checks, stopping people that have committed certain crimes not having them - sensible changes. Even these get opposes which is lunacy
-
California already has all them laws in place. Along with no magazine can be over 10 rounds and still he had an extended magazine
-
Exactly. So if laws work how was he able to get that magazine? It almost like criminals dont care about laws. Who would have thought?
-
Or, almost like having laws localized makes it easier for criminals to bypass laws. Know why you can’t get a new ID in a different state if yours is revoked in one? Because of a nationally regulated DMV system. If things were made nationwide, he wouldn’t have had an illegal route
-
to take in the start. We should also hold dealers accountable, and fine gun dealers who don’t check national registries or fudge numbers for an “off-the-books” private deal. Trade of guns, ammo or attachments between two civilians should be witnessed and supervised
-
By a government employee capable of doing a short but effective mental health screening and sign off saying that the new owner is capable of owning a gun. Have gun owners attend quarterly classes and background checks. Take them away if they are found guilty of particular charges
-
OMG that's hilarious. A government employee who can very quickly determine a person's mental state??? Even doctors have a tough time doing that. You have to be joking.

Doesn’t California have some of the strictest gun laws in America? So is it a mental health issue since it shows if someone wants to do it laws mean nothing.
-
So perhaps we should make it very difficult for someone with mental health problems to obtain a gun...correct?
-
He was cleared from having mental health issues by professionals and legally purchased the gun. So therefore not sure what law would have stopped him?
-
He wasnt cleared from having mental health issues, a crisis team decided he didn't need to be committed. His mother wanted him to get treatment and he refused.
-
Be that as it may, he bought a gun legally, it was not an AR-15, he was referred for mental health issues, was checked by professionals, and was ultimately found stable enough to carry a gun. Don't blame the law, blame the people that fail to uphold it competently.
-
Did you read the tweet? Because I did, and it says he wasn't cleared of having mental issues he was just told he didn't need to be committed, doesn't mean he doesn't have mental issues.
-
He was not considered a risk for others and himself. If he was he would have been reported and his gun would have been confiscated. Clearly they were wrong.
-
Yep, because our mental healthcare system is severely broken.

Hate this happened but it occurred in a state with the toughest gun laws in the U.S. with a legal firearm.

It’s common sense that this is why the shooting happened to the extent that it did. All you’ve shown through your tweets is that you care about your guns more than people.
-
Love when people use actual logic based thinking and get meme’d instead of an actual reply
-
As someone who has firearms I'd say making it harder for law-abiding citizens to get isn't the answer when criminals don't abide by those laws in the first place.
-
Why do you Gents feel the need to own / carry a gun? We here in the UK rarely have gun related murders (knives are a big problem in London currently unfortunately), so do you not feel a blanket ban on owning / carrying guns would be beneficial for the US?
-
you just stated why, because evil people resort to using whatever they can use. I boxed for 12 years and professionally for twoI can protect myself, but I'd rather carry a gun to protect my life rather than calling somebody with a gun to protect my life
