Where even to start? Each of these issues is so nuanced, has so much history...there are so many things you need to learn about the history of these struggles and the way political structures work, to make effective change.

It's not until you come to understand that these are NOT different battles, that they are in fact interrelated, that the panic starts to recede and you realize you need an analysis that deals with it all.

And you have a lot of theoretical frameworks to choose from. None of them are going to be absolutely perfect, describing the world 100 % accurately, or offering guaranteed solutions. So you can't afford to be too dogmatic if you want to move beyond theory.

But you also cannot wade in with nothing to ground you, because you will get caught unprepared and do actual harm if you do not consider the wider implications of your singular actions.

When we think about environmental crisis, for example, we must not fail to understand how migration is intensely linked to environment degradation, or how colonialism and neo-liberalism have exacerbated and even caused these environmental stresses.

So your response to environmental issues at some point will have to contend with how our governments are dealing with migration. Right now the most common response in the global North is to either openly or sneakily commit any and all human rights abuses in the name of borders.

What is your theory of change? When you campaign to save the rainforest, do you consider the fact of massive human displacement due to climate disaster? Are you even aware of what your governments are doing? Are you letting them pretend to be your ally on one issue...

while they actively commit human rights abuses that are directly related to that issue? You cannot allow anyone to convince you that you can be a single-issue activist. You don't have to "do all the things", focus your attention...but understand the relationships.

So yeah. Migrant issues are environmental issues. Environmental issues are gender issues. And so on.

Sorry, I'm just so angry about this, and about how few Canadians understand how migration is dealt with here, or even that we have migrant detention centres, or that we really need to think long and hard about the world that is already here.https://twitter.com/HarshaWalia/status/1119745569470070785?s=19 …

We can't fool ourselves that we are going to escape the tipping point for global environmental disaster; we're past it. In addressing this we need to reevaluate nation states, borders, and how "human" we see "others" as.

No claim was made to virtue. What was offered is a lot of constructive thought into finding a way beyond anxiety and inaction toward action and solutions. Your silly and shallow reply indicates no effort from you in these directions. Perhaps you should just be quiet.
