"Papoose" is part of the dehumanization trifecta towards Indigenous people: sq**, buck, and papoose. Yeah, we carried and stilll carry our babies in many different ways, now that you're figuring this stuff out, don't get gross about racist about it.

(dumb is an ableist term btw) The word originates from a single Indigenous language, and has been historically used by colonizers to refer to Indigenous babies/children as part of a series of terms that dehumanize it. Now it's been incorporated into UK English as a carrier.
