I worked with a true southern gentleman whose relatives fought with the Confederacy. He is also a Civil War re-enactor and a damn good man. Surprisingly, he had no problem with Nikki Haley removing the Confederate flag from the SC State House. He said it belonged in a museum.

As someone who had relatives who fought in the Confederate army, I support taking down Confederate monuments. Want to memoralize the dead? Put it in a graveyard, not in front of city hall.

All I know is that Brazil received a lot of fledgling Confederates. There's an entire city called Americana, where they display confederate flags, reenact a war they never took part of, and display their surnames of Lee, Harvey, and Jefferson at will.
