I think "it sucked" understates the importance of the design decision here, they movement was toned down because it undermined the ability for players to anticipate whether other people would be and made the game harder to learn. The BR genre is filled with inaccessible games (some of them inaccessible on purpose) and Apex isn't one of those, which is probably a big part of why it's doing so well. You can pick it up and play it and have fun right away in a way that isn't true for PUBG or RoE.
I still want a BR with gundams and wall-running but I don't think 3 million people would be playing it. Respawn made the right design decision and I'm sure some of their team were unhappy about it. I respect that they did it anyway.
It definitely understates it, but I linked the article if people wanted to learn more specifics. Wall running and double jumping would make traversal hectic. I totally agree with all your points (as do Respawn designers according to the article)
Many gamers are idiots. Complaining this game isn't like another game is ridiculous. Go play the other game instead of trying to make this into the other game.. Variety is good.
