Domino make it all work, very well. But Pizzas are high margin and simple in delivery terms. Does on-demand, home delivery food work for all food types? I don’t know - asking the question. Anyone have the data to answer?

From FT about cloud kitchen company raising $60m - but do cloud kitchens offer a path to profitability for food delivery companies? Or, are cloud kitchens only viable based on subsidised delivery?

You can explore my map of New York buildings by height here I wonder how New Yorkers would respond to think tanks advocating the demolition of their decent low rise homes on grounds of low density?

Wow. This is something very special indeed. Van Eyck is in the Pantheon of superlative artists. A good excuse to visit Ghent!

This thread is brilliant. And I don’t know much about sport. Always felt the age of more data often makes it more clear how much we don’t know and makes it harder to make good decisions. This aligns

Today’s date is a rare eight-digit palindrome (reads the same, forward and backward), 02/02/2020 — the only one of its kind this century: The previous eight-digit palindrome like this was 11/11/1111, 909 years ago. We’ll only have to wait another 101 years for 12/12/2121.

Most great societal leaps come from skipping tech cycles - from no phones to mobile etc. Innovation is anything that ‘removes constraints’ and U.K. has to ignore past, drop it, and jump to where big gains are coming. Which are primarily high tech, high skill, high end - or cheap.

The U.K. does have a terrible productivity record, but not amongst the top companies. These will double down and increase gap between them & the rest. Avoiding constraints imposed by Brexit is more likely than adapting to constraints. Why bother? Go where the upside is.

In many cases that will mean setting up in the EU, automating away jobs, upping the use of remote talent, concentrating on ‘expert’ products/services/humans, locating in London & ‘modern’ cities, and generally becoming more global, elitist & tech centric.

It is going to be amusing watching the Brexiters offload blame wherever they can. The trouble with lying and promising the world is that sooner or later you have to pony up. Meanwhile the smart people will get on rearranging their businesses to suit the new realities.
