Nothing shuts up the fake hero-victims faster than suddenly being confronted by real people confronting a real authoritarianism. Suddenly the sham is too egregious even for NYT writers to countenance.

This is weak. The lack of internal outrage over the Hong Kong op-ed — defending an authoritarian crackdown in a place where the NYT has dozens of employees — shows the fundamental fakeness of complaints about the Cotton op-ed as a workplace safety issue. nymag.com/intelligencer/

It's still incredible to me that concerns about 'workplace safety', the most bullshitty HR-speak, is now a valid argument in the public discourse for abridging everything from 1A to any other right. The managerial class has really taken over; somewhere, Burnham cackles.

If Burnham is right then much of what we see around us is part of the PMC's plan to politically neutralize both capitalists and proletariat. In which case the PMC's efforts to discredit themselves (by means of complete and persistent incompetence) is really setting conditions.
