Ever since I first used one I’ve been a convert.
Is the value-add simply greater range? Your sort of casual one-hour ride now has a massive range, including possibly hills?

Depends on your use case. When I was using it for commute, the top advantage was that I can get to the office without breaking the sweat. Now that I primarily use it for recreation, the top advantage is the range.

That's my reason for purchasing one (albeit a super cheap Wal-Mart special). I can get downtown more quickly, and I can go up hills more easily in my hilly town. If you're going to use a bike to do things and go places, e-bikes are a wise purchase.
