Second person in a day with an email auto-reply that essentially says: yeah, I just don't do email anymore...find me on some messaging app if you know me, and otherwise, well....sorry. Email is becoming the new phone call: something only for spammers or very specific uses.
Speaking of phone calls, switched both phone and carrier recently, and I don't even want to figure out how to set up voicemail. But I'm getting notifications for voicemails. I ignore them. Nothing bad seems to have happened. Maybe I can ignore unprompted phone calls forever.
Including sign up for any internet service, to be fair.
This is a SV luxury. Most of us have to rely on and reply to email in addition to chat.

If people deal mainly with low information content for notifications or sound bites, fine. If you are working with others and detailed communication needed, e-mails work much better.
Whatsapp business is pretty awesome for detailed communication but I still use Email.
Sounds to me to be an extremely unwise decision to put one's entire life in a phone that can be lost, broken or stolen at any moment.
If it's work, I ALWAYS make it a point to e-mail. I need to get that shit in writing. My colleague hates it. I even keep e-mail receipts indefinitely.
