Is it a recent thing to even ask how salmon should be cooked? Growing up in the NW it was always just prepared one way, not cooked to rubber but definitely not raw in the center either.
I think the convention here is shifting, which is why I hedged with 'potentially'.

I always thought salmon HAD to be cooked through to reduce the risk of parasites.
