I moved from Bay Area to Pennsylvania in October and the difference in what my CPAs charged for the same job is pretty eye opening. Bay Area CPA for 2019 taxes- $1,200; Pennsylvania CPA for 2020 taxes - $575. And the return my PA CPA did was more complicated.
Sounds about right for the SFBA, and about what I pay. California, man.
Also, switching to a new CPA wasn’t as hard as I thought it might be. Basically just sent him my last tax return and that gave him the baseline.
