But really, the boat doesn't seem that stuck. The canal drops almost instantly to massive depth at the edge. Only that bulbous nose is really in the sand. And with that jacknifed angle, hauling on the stern laterally to starboard will just wrench the nose free.

It was caught in a sandstorm with gusts up to 40mph. Doesn't have to be going that fast. 240Ktons displacement will need a huge force to stop even at 5kts. I suspect wind pushed bow over (note the Ever Given has two 3400hp bow thrusters!) and inertia did the rest
