One can almost excuse the presumption from an East Coast person using Eastern time to set a meeting to talk West Coast tech, but the Central people really have no excuse.

This is actually bullshit. I can believe that one extraordinary bakery has a decent bagel in SF, the same way I could imagine a good taco in NY. But the average bagel, and the average slice, in NY is extraordinary.
-
Bollocks. Without any planning or routing, get a bagel from the first metal street stand you run across, and post a picture please. And don't even get me started on the coffee.
-
The same applies to street feces. Walk on any street on SF and you'll see shit everywhere. In NY, oh nevermind, we don't have that problem...
-
Way to change the subject. Look forward to the photo of that magnificent NYC street bagel. In the case of a flood, they're so bready and puffy, you can use them as a life preserver.

this opinion is so absurd it's hard to even get mad at
-
LOL. No it isn't. Lived years in the LES, and know of what I speak. NYers are delusional about a lot of things, and their pizza/bagel quality is one of those things (not that that many of them even eat them that often...this is mostly posturing).
-
You've staked your respective claims. This should be settled with a duel or...some sort of scientitic experiment.
-
Waiting on Ari to post a randomly selected NYC street bagel pic tomorrow morning. I'll post my bagel from Alameda. Mine will actually be boiled...his will not. What's funny is he probably doesn't even eat bagels for breakfast often, while I have one every morning in CA.

SF does have some great bakeries. DC has crap bagels. Some decent stuff comes in from Baltimore but that’s about it.
-
The key point is not comparing the respective maxima, as if you're some foodie tourist, but your actual lived bagel experience as a carless, rushed NYC resident getting breakfast on the way to work. In that case, NYC has little to brag about.
